What is actually true in Lake Forest

Lake Forest High School serves the community through Lake Forest Community High School District 115. Lake Forest Academy and Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart also enroll local students.

Independent and public applications are read against different school profiles — different catalogues, grading conventions, and counseling structures. A family that switches midway, or has one child in each, is managing two sets of assumptions at once.

We work with families on either path and do not have a view about which is better. What we do have is a specific approach to each: what the record needs to show differs, and so does the timing of when decisions become irreversible.

Two school contexts, frequently inside one family

Parents with children in both systems get advice calibrated for one and apply it to the other. Counseling structures differ materially — independent schools typically offer more contact — so what an outside coach adds differs too, and we say which rather than selling the same retainer twice.

How sessions run for Lake Forest families

Classes run live online today. In-person small-group cohorts are planned for Glenview, IL, serving the North Shore and southern Lake County — we will publish the location and dates once the room is under contract, and not before.

    Parent AI workshops and fall test-prep coaching

    Free and low-cost parent workshops across the North Shore, alongside 1:1 coaching timed to the autumn SAT and ACT dates. This is the window where families meet the program in person before committing to a cohort.

    Winter small-group cohort · February 27 ACT and March 2027 SAT

    The first small-group cohort timed to a specific test date, for sophomores and juniors sitting the February ACT or the March SAT. Enrollment opens in the autumn; the cohort runs only if a written minimum enrollment is met.

    Summer SAT/ACT bootcamp and AP intensives

    The eight-week summer program for rising juniors and seniors, plus subject intensives for AP coursework. Enrollment opens in the winter, after the first cohort has been delivered and families can see the work rather than a description of it.

How AI is used here — and where the line is

Students build a study system they own and can read: a log of their own mistakes, the instructions they wrote for how they want to be helped, and a checklist for verifying an answer before trusting it. The system is a set of files the student keeps. It does not know your child and it does not remember them between sessions — what persists is what the student wrote down, which is exactly why it still works a year later and in a different course.

The limit belongs beside the benefit: a model can be confident and wrong, which is why verification is taught as part of the method rather than mentioned at the end of it.
